International Beauty Secrets

With roughly a little less than 3.6 billion women in the world it's easy to say that our beauty secrets are very diverse. Each culture and nation brings about a whole slew of tips, tricks, secrets, and regimes. From country to country women may vary but we all have that one thing in common.....Beauty. In all it's shapes, forms, colors, and textures; we are BEAUTIFUL. We also share the same passion for beauty, we just have different ways of achieving it. Everything from commercial products to homemade recipes. I wanted to further my knowledge and learn some new things to add to my regimen. I decided I'd share my findings with of all you. Who knows maybe you might just learn a thing or two that can help with a bothersome beauty issue you were having.

Japan
Did you know that in Japan they brush their skin with a soft bristle brush? It is said to help keep skin toned and assist in preparing the skin for creams and serums you put on so they actually penetrate the face better. Sounds like Clairisonic got their idea from Japan beauties! :)

Azuki Beans - Said to give a soft radiant glow.
At a local Asian market or grocery store with an Asian foods section, find dried Azuki beans. They should be fairly cheap, about $2 per pound.
To Use: Place a 1/2 - 1 cup of the beans in a blender (or food processor) and blend until it becomes a smooth fine powder consistency. Store in an airtight container.Take a small amount of the powder and add a little warm water to form a paste. Use this to wash your face 2 - 3 nights per week.
It can also be used as a facial. Just take the same paste and smooth over the face, letting it sit and dry for about 15 minutes. Then wash off with a warm washcloth. Your skin should feel tight and smooth.
*Make sure to not overdue it, 2 - 3 times a week is enough. If done more often it can irritate your skin! Also be sure to avoid your eye area with this paste.

Rice Bran Powder - Said to cleanse, nourish, soften, and lighten the skin.
Rice bran powder is readily available in most all grocery stores.
To Use: Take a small muslin pouch and fill about halfway with the Rice Bran powder. Wet the pouch using warm water and rub wherever you desire; face, arms, legs, etc. Then rinse clean using warm water. This has been used for years in Japan and is said to be very good for the skin.

Nori Seaweed - Said to make hair smooth, soft, and bouncy. Also said to reduce frizz.
Nori Seaweed can be found dried in your Asian foods section of your grocery store or at a local Asian market.
To Use: Soak Nori overnight in water. In the morning drain the water and apply to damp hair. Let you hair air dry. Then style as usual. (Don't worry you will not smell fishy).

Pure Cranberry Juice - Said to bring out natural subtle highlights for brunettes.
To Use: Mix a 1/4 cup pure cranberry juice (not cocktails) with 1/4 cup of water. Pour mixture over your hair as a final rinse in the shower.
*If you are blonde just substitute the cranberry juice for lemon juice.

Manzanilla Tea (Chamomile Tea) - Said to soothe irritated skin and treat eczema. Also contains flavonoids which protect the body from premature aging.
