Ruby White Tips "Angel Beauty" Polish Review & Giveaway!

Ruby White Tips is an online nail polish shop on Etsy.com run by a woman named Laura. Summer '13 Bold Eye Makeup Trends

Bold bright eyes are another beautiful trend this for Summer 2013. Just be sure not to pair the bright colorful lips and bold eyes together in the same look. That's just too much. However, a bright bold eye paired with a subtle more neutral lip can provide a beautiful statement. You can even play off of your eye color and choose in the same shade range that is said to make the eyes pop; such as lavender/purple for brown eyes. Instead of the standard purple you could go for a bright grape color eyeshadow or liner. Below are some examples from the S/S Runways of 2013.

TOP: Runway - Peter Som | MUA - Tom Pecheux | Photo - MAC Cosmetics via Vogue Beauty
BOTTOM: Runway - Moschino Cheap & Chic | MUA - Hannah Murray | Photo -  MAC Cosmetics via Vogue Beauty, Runway - Donna Karan | Photo - GoRunway via Vogue Beauty, Runway - TopShop Unique | MUA - Hannah Murray | Photo - Vogue Beauty, Runway - Clements Ribeiro | MUA - Cassie Lomas | Photo - Vogue Beauty

My personal favorite is the top photo. The colors blend to a nice almost sunset type of a look. I like how it's not a solid color, it appears as more of a wash, better adding to the blendability of the look. It still gives that pop of color without looking like you took Crayola's to your face (LOL). Hopefully you will try one of these great looks this summer. If you do make sure to upload it on FB, Instagram, or Twitter and tag me: angelleebeauty so I can see it :)

Summer '13 Bright & Colorful Liptick Trends

Bright and colorful lips is the theme for this Summer '13; from full on bold lips to pops of color in the center of the lips. Daring bold colors were seen all over the S/S Runways and has trickled it's way into the cosmetics lines all over the industry. You can find them from the most expensive brands (YSL $34) to mid-priced brands (MAC $15) all the way down to drugstore brands (Maybelline "Color Sensational Vivids" $6).

TOP: Runway - Giles | Photo - Vogue Beauty, Runway - Prada | MUA - Tom MGrath | Photo - Vogue Beauty, Runway - Paul Smith | Photo - MAC Cosmetics via Vogue Beauty   MIDDLE: Runway - Holly Fulton | MUA - Andrew Gallimore | Photo - MAC Cosmetics via Vogue Beauty, Runway - Erdem | MUA - Andrew Gallimore | Photo - MAC Cosmetics via Vogue Beauty, Runway - Dries Van Noten | Photo - Vogue Beauty   BOTTOM: Runway - Missoni | Artist - Lucia Pieroni |  Photo - Vogue Beauty, Runway - Richard Nicoll | Photo - Vogue Beauty, Runway - Jason Wu | MUA - Diane Kendal | Photo - Vogue Beauty

With so many brands hopping on the bright lip bandwagon, you're sure to find a shade you like. Not too sure about shelling out on such a bold color with a high price tag? Then take advantage of the drugstore brands; and as always if you don't like it return it without having to lose out on some $$. Just be sure to familiarize yourself with your store's cosmetics return policy.

Feel free and more than welcome to leave comments and suggestions below.

Beach Beauty Series 1

Are you all feeling like the image above? I know I sure am. Beautiful weather, warm sand, bright sunshine, and a Pina Colada in your hand (can't forget the frozen drinks lol). Summertime brings that beautiful bronzed sun goddess out of us ladies, doesn't it? As much as I know the harsh effects of the sun (it's been drilled in our heads so many times right?), I can't help but slather on the SPF and get out there and get my tan on! As a matter of fact today I was out in the sun in the late morning and got a little "lobster-like" in less than an hour. I guess I need to invest in a better sunblock, because apparently mine gave up really fast. That brings me to something I always tell you guys, "don't be afraid to return it if it doesn't work". Try out different sunblocks and see which fits you best.

While you're out there being the awesome sun goddess you are and worshiping mother nature's beautiful oceans and man's wonderful pools, remember some of these key tips below.

Skin:
You want to get SPF 50 which blocks about 98% of UVB rays (these rays cause sunburn). Do not confuse this with UVA rays which causes deeper skin damage. So basically slather on the sunscreen and limit full on sun exposure. Also, don't buy into the higher SPF hooplah, anything past SPF 50 is pretty much just marketing jargon. Google it if you don't take my word for it.

Hair:
Check you hair care products to see if they advertise or list an SPF. One known common sunscreen ingredient is Octyl Methyoxycinnamate, so check in the ingredient list for that. Unfortunately, some companies advertise something as having SPF and it doesn't. How they get away with that is beyond me! So do your research on the products you use. Google when in doubt. (I really should own that company because I use it and talk about it so much lol).

If you want to make your own leave-in sunscreen hair mist, mix 2 teaspoons of SPF 25 sunscreen with 1 cup of water and add to a spray bottle. Spray into your hair before sun exposure and take it with you for touch-ups throughout the day. Cheap and effective! :)

Make sure to always do a thorough rinse with clean water after swimming in the ocean/pool. This will help slow down any drying or chemical damage.

Lastly, don't forget to clarify and deep condition at least once a week if you are spending long amounts of time in the sun or ocean/pool.

Eyes:
Make sure to always wear your cutest UV-blocking sunglasses when out in the sun. Failure to do so can cause cataracts, eye cancer, and other eye diseases down the line. And besides, with so many beautiful sunglasses out there now a days, why wouldn't you want to walk around wearing your hottest "J. Lo" sunnies! :)

Quick tip: If you happen to get sunburn around your eyes just smooth some all natural aloe vera gel on it, just be sure not to get in your actual eye. Cold tea bags work well for this also. It calms the pain while the sunburn heals.

Nails:
Did you even know that the sun can cause damage to your nails?! Yes my dear it can. Prolonged sun exposure creates ridges in the nails and can take a very long time to grow out. Use a ridge filler for any current ridges and to prevent further damage. This goes for hands and toes.

Well my lovelies it looks like you are all ready for the beach. Enjoy your summer sun lovin' and remember some of my tips above! Keep an eye out for Beach Beauty Series 2, coming in the next few days.

Beauty Myths Fact or Fiction

There are literally thousands of ways to get information on beauty these days. This blog being just another example of the many ways women get their information. When it comes to fact or fiction in the beauty world it is a matter of trial and error. What works for me, may not work for you, and vice versa. However, I found it interesting to delve into the "true and false" tips that are out there in the world of internet. I found some that I read said false on one site and then true on another. Again this is an example of trial and error because obviously what worked for one person did not work for the other. Just keep that in mind when reading below, just because it says True or False next to it, does not mean it is 100% correct. We are all so different that it is impossible for a "one size fits all" beauty regime.

Myth: Your cell phone can cause breakouts.
FACT ✔
In fact some experts claim that cell phones have more bacteria than doorknobs and toilet seats!
Solution: Take a clean cloth LIGHTLY moistened with alcohol and softly clean you cell phone. This will lessen the amount of bacteria present, thus causing less breakouts.

Myth: Certain cleansers can shrink pores.
FALSE ✘
What they can do at best is make them appear smaller. This is a temporary fix as pore size is mostly genetic.
Solution: Find what works best for you, but remember that its only TEMPORARY. Don't set your heart on shrinking pores forever, just enjoy how gorgeous you look while the product does it's "magic" for the time being.

Myth: Plucking gray hairs causes more grays.
FALSE ✘
Plucking one or two grays will not cause you to turn into
Cruella De Vil (lol), but it will cause the root to become damaged.
Soultion: Try an at home hair dye specifically formulated for gray hair coverage or discuss it with your hair stylist.

Myth: Expensive products are better than inexpensive products. FALSE ✘
The truth is, no matter what the price, there are good and bad products in all price ranges. It's all about their formulation not their price tag.
Solution: Try out a cheaper cosmetic before you write it off or rush out to buy a more expensive one based on just the name brand. Take advantage of many stores cosmetics return policy. (I finally got over my shyness of returning cosmetics when I started building my makeup collection. If I didn't like it then it went back the next day!)

Myth: Toothpaste is a good way to get rid of a zit.
FALSE ✘
While this may dry out the zit and make it disappear, the Fluoride in it irritates the heck out of your skin and can cause burns.

Myth: Putting your nails in ice water will make them dry faster. FALSE ✘
Doing this will actually slow down the process.
Solution: If you're in a hurry use a quick drying polish, top coat, or spray.

Myth: Sushi and shellfish can cause breakouts.
FACT ✔
I had never even heard of this when I came across this fact. Apparently due to their high iodine content the above listed culprits can cause breakouts and further irritate current ones.
Solution: Keep sushi and shellfish to a minimum when you are experiencing breakouts. If seafood is something you enjoy and you have problematic skin then try eating only farm raised seafood, like farm raised Catfish, Salmon, or Tilapia.

Myth: Skin that feel "squeaky" clean is healthy skin.
FALSE ✘
Skin that has been stripped of all its oils using harsh detergents and cleansers is the opposite of healthy skin. Your skin needs these oils in order to maintain itself healthy and protect itself from outside irritants and elements.
Solution: Use mild cleansers with added moisture instead.

Hope this information was helpful for you. If you know of any other beauty myths you'd like to share leave them in the comments below :)

Affordable Shoes ~ One of My Fave Sites!

The addiction is real! Shoes junkies unite! LOL! No but seriously I have a terrible addiction to shoes. But I also have an even bigger obsession....

Amiclubwear Logo

Cute, affordable shoes! Yes ladies, it is possible. I have many many many shoes and I have found a really nice chunk of my shoes on AMIClubWear.com. I first stumbled on this website years ago and always went back for more. The shoes are cute, the price is amazing, and believe it or not even with the low price tag, the shoes are good quality!

The best part to me about buying shoes on this website is the fact that I can try new styles and buy those "wear once or twice" pairs of shoes and not feel bad about it. And trust me when I tell you I have plenty of those "once in a blue" shoes in my collection.

With styles changing every season, why not just try out something you've had your eye on. If worse comes to worse just exchange them. They have a pretty good return/exchange policy. (Their policy is pretty standard, it states: If you are dissatisfied with an item, you will have 30 days from receipt to return a item for a store credit to use on future orders. Items that are special priced, clearance items, bathing suits, lingerie/ intimates, accessories, costumes, and special order items are final sale and cannot be returned or refund, exchange or store credit.) I've had to do this maybe once or twice with some flats. My feet are small (size 6 - 6 1/2) so sometimes flat sandals fit me big if I get my standard 6 1/2.

Here is an example of just a few pairs I quickly grabbed pics of as an example of what I have bought from them throughout the past few years. These are some of my most worn pairs so not all "fresh out the box fancy" but you get the point :)

I own these in 3 different colors. So comfy!

Comfy spring/summer sandals!

The picture does not do these justice! They sparkle like diamonds!

My fav staple ankle boots for fall/winter.

Not one pair of those shoes cost me more than maybe $12 - $20! I have gotten such great use out of them and will continue to for many seasons to come! As a matter of fact the knee high fuschia color boots, I have them in red also and have yet to wear them, looks like I will be whippin' those baby's out come Fall 2013!

I have a ton of affordable websites I will posting reviews on soon. I mean after all, who doesn't like to look fab on a budget?! Let me know in the comments below if you have any questions or if you have purchased from this site before and what was your experience(s).

3 Ingredients Natural Fat Blocking/Fighting Homemade "Tea" (Ayurvedic Remedy)

I have been doing a little research on some ways to fight fat and block fat without using all those nasty and harmful chemical laden pills, drinks, etc. I saw an all natural recipe that caught my eye and I will be trying it out starting tonight. Reading around I saw that other people have tried this drink and lost about 6 pounds in about a week to a week and a half! I thought surely it's at least worth a try and it's all natural so it's not like I have much to risk.

This is apparently an old Ayurvedic remedy. Ayurveda is described as a form of alternative medicine that is native to the Indian subcontinent. I have seen quite a few videos on Youtube using these methods and I am thoroughly intrigued and interested. Here is my first journey into the world of Ayurvedic Remedies :)

Cinnamon Honey "Tea":

Ingredients:
  • 1 Tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Tbsp Raw Honey
  • 1 Cup Water

Directions:
Step 1: Boil water.
Step 2: Pour the water into a cup mixing in the ground cinnamon.
Step 3: Let cool to room temperature and then mix in the honey.
Step 4: Drink half of the mixture.
Step 5: Place the other half of the mixture covered into the refrigerator overnight.
Step 6: In the morning, on an empty stomach, drink the other half of the mixture.

*Note: Make sure to wait a half hour after drinking the mixture in the morning to eat anything. Do this daily for as long as desired. This will promote your body to naturally "expel" waste, fat, and toxins from the body.

Let me know in the comments below if you have ever tried this and if so, did it work for you? If you haven't tried it yet let's give it a shot together. Keep me posted on your progress below in  the comments ;)

All Natural Hair Lighteners ~ DIY Homemade Recipes!

Who remember's buying "Sun In" as a teenager? Way before I ever visited a salon or started bleaching my hair until it was like straw, I used "Sun In". For those who don't know, this is a spray on highlighter that is activated by the sun. It provided a subtle hightlight that made me feel like JLo on an MTV Music Awards carpet with P. Diddy. LOL!

Instead of using store bought products, give some all natural homemade recipes a try first. Below are just a handful of DIY's for you to try.

Lemon Juice Highlights:
This will provide subtle, sun-kissed highlights.

Ingredients/Tools:
  • 1/4 cup of lemon juice
  • 3/4 of a cup water
  • Spray bottle

Directions:
Mix ingredients together and spray into your hair, making sure not to saturate your scalp. Go sit in the sun for about a half hour, (make sure none of the lemon juice is on your skin when you sit out). Return to the shade and let the mixture sit for another hour and a half. Rinse out in the shower and condition as normal.

Honey & Lemon Juice Highlights:
This will provide natural looking highlights and give hair a shiny, full look.

Ingredients/Tools:
  • Spray Bottle
  • 1/3 spray bottle full of honey
  • 1/3 spray bottle full of lemon juice
  • 1/3 spray bottle full of water
Directions:
Wet your hair until damp. Spray the mixture all throughout hair and sit in the sun for an hour to "develop" the highlights. Wash thoroughly until you remove all the honey.

Vodka & Seltzer Highlighter:
This will lighten hair without that nasty orange after tone. It also helps to get rid of red brassy tones in your hair.

Ingredients/Tools:
  • 1/3 cup Vodka
  • 2/3 cup Seltzer
  • Spray Bottle
Directions:
Combine vodka and seltzer in a spray bottle and spritz throughout your hair. Tie hair in to a braid or wrap into a bun. Go soak up some sun. This can be done while you're on the go doing your day to day errands. The vodka smell goes away don't worry :)

Rum & Seltzer Highlighter:
This will provide caramel color highlights without brassiness.

Ingredients/Tools:
  • 1/3 cup Rum
  • 2/3 cup Seltzer
  • Spray Bottle
Directions:
Combine rum and seltzer in a spray bottle and spritz throughout your hair. Tie hair in to a braid or wrap into a bun. Go soak up some sun. This can also be done while you're on the go doing your day to day errands. Just as the vodka, the rum smell also does go away.

"Ombre-Like" Highlighter:
This will lighten the hair pretty drastically compared to the other recipes. This one was a recommendation from my sister, who did this to her hair from mid-shaft to ends, thus creating an "ombre" effect.

Ingredients/Tools:
  • 1 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 cup Baking Soda
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • Bowl
Directions:
Brush out hair to ensure you have no tangles. Mix together apple cider vinegar and baking soda first in the bowl. You will notice it fizzle. Then add in the 1/2 cup of water. Mix well until baking soda is well incorporated, as it tends to just sink to the bottom. Scoop out product using your hands and saturate hair from mid-shaft to ends, making sure to rub in the mixture well. It's almost as if you are "shampooing" it into the hair. Allow this to sit in your hair for 15 - 20 minutes depending upon the amount of lightness desired. After the time is up, rinse well from hair using lukewarm water. DO NOT SHAMPOO! Condition as you normally would.

Olive Oil Highlighter:
We all know that olive oil makes an awesome conditioning treatment, but I just found out it can highlight your hair also! Talk about killing two birds with one stone!

Ingredients/Tools:
  • Olive Oil (enough to cover the amount of hair you'd like highlighted)
  • Comb
Directions:
Rub olive oil on the strands of hair you'd like highlighted. Comb through from roots to ends. Go rest in the sun for about one hour. After the hour is up, wash hair thoroughly. It may take a few shampoos to remove all the oil. Condition as normal and enjoy your new smooth, soft, sun-kissed locks :)

Frugal Fridays - Diy Dupes For Expensive Products

Frugal Fridays is going to be a weekly series where I showcase a DIY dupe for an expensive product you would love to shell out for but either can't afford to or got tired of doing so. A DIY dupe means do it your self duplicate. To put it more simply its a copycat product. So let's jump right into it and get to the savings! Since we are entering summer and it looks like it's going to be a hot one, below you will find some summer beauty staples.

Dupe #1 :
Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo (Avg. Retail Price $23 for 3.2 oz)

This is one of the more popular dry shampoo's out there and rightfully so because it does work, but I am in no way going to be able to justify to myself spending $23 on 3.2 oz's of product! So here is the much more frugal way of getting the same results!

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp Arrow Powder
  • 2 Tbsp Rice Flour
  • 2 Tbsp Corn Starch
  • Optional: 6-10 drops of your favorite essential oil (lavender, orange, lemon, etc.)
  • Optional: 2 Tbsp Cocoa Powder (for dark hair only)
Step 1: Mix all of the ingredients together in a salt shaker or place in tupperware.
Step 2: Shake onto the scalp. If using tupperware then dip dry fingers into the container to get some on fingertips.
Step 3: Massage into the scalp.
Step 4: Brush out and style as normal.
*Note: Arrowroot powder makes a great thickener so this will add volume to fine, limp, greasy hair. Just make sure to always blend in well.

Dupe #2 :
Josie Maran Bohemian Waves Argan Hair Mist Texture Volume & Moisture (Avg. Retail Price $22 for 4 oz)

Such a long and fancy name for basically what is a sea salt spray with a little Argan Oil in it! Josie Maran to me is nothing short of an overpriced product line altogether. I have found many cheaper Argan Oil's online, but that is a topic for another day/post. Here is a beachy waves sea salt spray you can make with items you most likely already have at home.

Ingredients:
  • 8 oz's lukewarm water (I prefer to boil mine so as to kill any bacteria or you could use filtered water)
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp coconut oil (to keep hair from drying out from the salt)
  • Nickel sized amount or small dab of hair gel (whatever brand you like)
Step 1: Pour all ingredients into a spray bottle.
Step 2: Shake well until all ingredients are combined.
Step 3: Spray on damp or dry hair and scrunch towards your roots.
Step 4: Gawk in the mirror at what a gorgeous beachy babe you look like! :)
(Recipe from blog.freepeople.com)

Dupe #3 :
NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 (Avg. Retail Price $42 for 1.9 oz)

Talk about an overpriced gimmick! I believe most all tinted moisturizers are ridiculously priced, considering the fact that almost all tinted moisturizers are just simply a face cream with some foundation. Here are two ways to DIY this popular summer option.

Option 1 -
Ingredients:
  • Your favorite pressed face powder
  • Your favorite facial moisturizer
  • Optional - Your favorite sunscreen
Step 1: Take some moisturizer (and sunscreen if you like) in your palm; the same amount you would normally use.
Step 2: Add in your pressed face powder. This works great if you have a broken pressed powder! If not, then just scrape some off using a clean small spatula, spoon, or knife.
Step 3: Mix well by rubbing palms together. You can also do this on a empty plate, palette, or in a small clean bowl.
Step 4: Apply all over your face and neck as you would normally do when applying moisturizer.

Option 2 -
Ingredients:
  • Your favorite foundation (the more full coverage/opaque it is, the better)
  • Your favorite facial moisturizer
  • Optional - Your favorite sunscreen (although most foundations have sunscreen already, check yours)
Step 1: Take some moisturizer (and sunscreen if you like) in your palm; the same amount you would normally use.
Step 2: Add in about a dime sized amount of your foundation (this can be more or less depending on the opacity you like, remember this is a tinted moisturizer so it's supposed to be light coverage).
Step 3: Mix well by rubbing palms together. You can also do this on a empty plate, palette, or in a small clean bowl.
Step 4: Apply all over your face and neck as you would normally do when applying moisturizer.

Voila! DIY Tinted Moisturizer for pennies!

Dupe #4 :
MAC Fix+ Spray (Avg. Retail Price $21 for 3.4 US fl oz)

Ok I will not lie, I own the full size bottle of this and shelled out the $21 plus $6 shipping just to have this awesome spray. I love the way it works and will most likely never give it up, but for daily use I would not use something that costs this much! Instead a DIY dupe would be better and you can save the Fix+ for more special occasions.

Ingredients:
  • 4 oz empty spritz bottle
  • Water (I like to boil mine to get rid of any bacteria, let it cool before using it or use room temperature filtered water)
  • 1 Tbsp 32,000 IU of Vitamin E (most health stores or drugstores sell this)
  • 1 Tsp Aloe Vera Oil (aloe vera gel can be used in place of the oil but the oil works best)
Step 1: Add all ingredients to spritz bottle.
Step 2: Shake well until all ingredients are combined.
Step 3: Close your eyes and spray all over your face. Allow to soak in and dry.
(recipe from Makeupalley.com)

*Note: This can be used both under or over makeup. Also can be used to freshen up your makeup throughout the day.

I hope all of this information has been helpful for you. If you have any questions feel free to use the contact me box on the right hand side of the home page. And don't forget to leave me your comments below <3!

Male "Beauty" Recipes & Tips

When it comes to male "beauty" there is a stigma attached that all men who pamper or cater to themselves are considered "metro sexual" or it's something that is less than masculine. Let me be the first to say that I for one appreciate a man that takes care of his appearance and skin! I don't think any woman wants to caress skin that feels like an alligator! Or a face that looks so dull and ashy it looks like you got smacked in the face by a bag of flour! No sir, we don't want your skin routine to be longer than ours, or you primp so much that you become a quote unquote "pretty boy", but some attention to self preservation is generally a good idea to keep us seeing you for the smoking hot man you are! ;)

So where to begin you ask? What is a good regime? What are some tried and true methods? Well read on below and pick a few things that appeal to you and go for it! And don't be shy, share this with your buddies on that next guys night! (You'd be surprised just how many of your best male buddies already have a regime going!)

Hair:

Beer Rinse
This works to rejuvenate dull lifeless hair in 5 easy steps.

Ingredients:
  • One can of beer (any brand) at room temperature
Step 1: Shampoo hair as your regularly would.
Step 2: Pour the can of beer over wet hair and massage in.
Step 3: Let sit for a few minutes. (in the meantime practice your best pick up lines to the shower wall lol)
Step 4: Rinse well until water runs clear.
Step 5: Condition as you regularly would.
Voila! Run your hands through your newly softened silky locks.

Hair Loss Home Remedy
This helps to promote healthy and shiny hair growth.

Ingredients:
  • Olive Oil
  • Honey (Use organic if you have it available)
Step 1: Apply a mixture of half olive oil and half honey to your hair (the amount used will depend of the length of your hair).
Step 2: Massage it into the scalp.
Step 3: Leave it on overnight or as long as possible for best results.
Step 4: Rinse thoroughly (you can shampoo and condition as well).
Note: Use a shower cap or plastic bag to cover your head. If you cannot do this overnight, apply the mixture as soon as you get home from work and leave it on until the very last minute before going to bed. Another option is to do this on a lazy Sunday when you won't be leaving the house, leave the mixture on all day and rinse out before bed.

To Avoid Hair Loss Remedy
This will keep your hair shiny, help prevent it from falling out, and nourish the scalp with essential nutrients.

Ingredients
  • Egg whites
Step 1: Take the whites of an egg or more (the amount used will depend of the length of your hair) and massage the mixture from the scalp to the ends.
Step 2: Let sit for a half hour or more depending on the time you have available.
Step 3: Rinse out thoroughly.
Note: Don't forget to wear a cap or hat when going outdoors to protect from the sun and pollution. This also helps slow down/avoid hair loss.

DIY Barbershop Hot Towel Treatment
Have you ever noticed how relaxing and soothing it feels when the barber puts the hot towel over your face? Here is how to get that same treatment at home every time you shave.

Ingredients:
  • Washcloth
  • Vicks VapoRub
  • Lavender Essential Oil or any other essential oil you prefer (sold at most health food stores or drugstores)
Step 1: Spread a small thin layer of the VapoRub in the center of your towel.
Step 2: Apply a few drops of the essential oil onto the washcloth.
Step 3: Wet towel.
Step 4: Heat towel. You can do this by:

  • Using very hot water (towel cools off quickly though)
  • Heating in the microwave for 30 second increments in a heat safe glass container or bowl
  • Place towel in a heat safe glass container or bowl and pour slightly boiled water from a teapot, making sure to let it cool down for a few minutes before ringing it out.
Step 5: Place the heated towel on your face and enjoy! Let it rest on your face until it becomes cool. You can also give yourself a mini face massage through the towel as it rests against your beard.

Aftershave Care
There are a few things you can do after shaving to care for your skin. Caring for the skin properly after shaving can result in smoother, younger, and healthier skin. Also it can slow hair growth and make new hair grow in softer and finer over time.

Alum Block: Its bar-of-soap-sized block of potassium alum that you wet, and rub on your face after shaving. This helps when you have nicks and cuts by shrinking the skins tissues and coagulating (or clotting) blood flow. The link below sells a brand called Geo F. Trumper Block of Alum for about $27. A little goes a long way so this should last you a long time!

Washing Makeup Brushes

We all know that washing our makeup brushes can be a boring dull task, but it's important to do none the less. Unwashed brushes harbor bacteria, dead skin cells, and oxidized product among many other nasties.

So with that being said I usually clean my brushes with the following steps and tools/ingredients.

Ingredients:
Olive Oil
Mild soap (I use either a mild dish soap or Dr. Bronners Castile Liquid Soap)

Tools:
Small plate or the saucer
Sink (Duh :p)

Step one: Pour a small amount about the size of a quarter onto the plate. Next to that add some "soap" whichever you chose, about a small palm full size should do.
Step two: Dip your brush lightly into the oil and then dip into the "soap". Swirl it on a clean side of the plate to work in the oil and "soap" until it starts to lather and release the buildup.
Step three: Rub it into the palm of your hand and squeeze very gently in between your thumb and index finger to further remove buildup of products.
Step four: Run under lukewarm water to rinse. Rinse until water runs clear. You can do this by swirling the brush in your palm. With this step be extra careful not to soak the entire brush or get too much water near the metal part (the ferrule) as it can become loose and you will lose bristles or the whole thing could fall off :(
Step five: Lay your brushes on a flat surface on top of a towel to dry. They sell many gadgets and gizmo's to hang your brushes face down which is best, but if your like me then who has time to go out and buy that?! LOL. I have always laid them this way to dry and have never had any problems.
Step six: After the brushes are dry fluff them back to the normal state and Enjoy :)

Do you guys use anything different to clean your brushes? Comment below and share it with us! As always love, hugs, and kisses.
